2018 Porsche Cayenne vs. 2018 Jaguar F-Pace

The 2018 Porsche Cayenne gives lots of options to owners, with outstanding hybrid performance. Its engine is powerful and its handling has been described as superlative. Despite this, it is in competition against the Jaguar F-Pace, an SUV that has been praised for its styling, widescreen infotainment and numerous engine choices. Which of them is the best?

Design & Style

The Porsche Cayenne features a circular shape and has been compared to the 911. It has a cabin which has been extended and which is sleeker than most of its contemporaries, and some additions also come with brake calipers and other green touches. The surfaces are curved with an analog clock visible in the interior. The vents are sculpted and the material is exceptional in quality. The Jaguar F-Pace is sporty, yet refined. It has a sloped roof with windows that are tapered. The front fascia has a grille which has been widened. The interior is somewhat Spartan however, with seats made from synthetic leather.

Technology & Safety

The dashboard and control center in the Jaguar F-Pace is built around the infotainment screen, which is eight inches in size. It is equipped with a large number of safety features, such as control systems for stability and traction, airbags, and driver assist devices. Although it has automatic emergency brakes, it lacks a rearview camera. Porsche has invested a great deal in ensuring the Cayenne is as safe as possible. To this end they’ve added six airbags, active lane control, a camera which is surround view, and headlights which are adaptive with seatbelt pretensioners.

The Porsche Cayenne is a real powerhouse when it comes to performance. Even standard models can go from zero to sixty in seven seconds, which is impressive for an SUV. More advanced editions can perform to a much higher degree. The base Cayenne is equipped with a V6 3.6-liter engine that can produce 300 horsepower with 295 pounds of torque. The Jaguar F-Pace is also formidable, with a turbo 4 engine that is capable of producing 247 horsepower and can go from zero to sixty in about 6.4 seconds. Like the Cayenne, it can be upgraded for greater performance.

The Bottom Line

The matchup between the Porsche Cayenne and Jaguar F-Pace is almost too close to call because both are so well designed. Despite this, many have complained about the Jaguar’s safety features costing extra when they should be standard. Additionally, the interior is darker than it should be and driving it can be rough if one chooses one of the bigger wheel configurations, so the Porsche Cayenne wins.
