2018 Porsche 911 vs. 2018 Lexus LC

The 2018 Porsche 911 is the latest edition of a car which has dominated the automobile performance market for decades. Its incredible performance, an array of options and the opulent interior has few rivals. This changed with the release of the 2018 Lexus LC, however, a dynamic sports car with a superb chassis, outstanding looks, and superb speed and acceleration. Which of the two is supreme?

Design & Style

Many regard the LC as being Lexus most well-designed car ever. It is a rapid departure from the usual design approach chosen by the manufacturer, with a futuristic appearance marked by the jet canopy roof, LED rear lights, door handles that pop out, and an angular exterior. The leather within the cabin is well stitched, with color themes that are daring. The 2018 Porsche 911 is just as beautiful as previous editions. Slight changes have been made to the taillights and horizontal elements, and within the cabin, buyers can expect classy trim with a display that is centralized and multifunctional.

Technology & Safety

Although the 911 was built for speed, Porsche balanced this with excellent safety features. Drivers can expect airbags for each passenger, along with airbags designed to inflate up in the event of a side collision. Other safety measures include reinforced doors, control for stability and traction, and protection from rollovers. Interior luxuries include seats that can be power adjusted, touch screens, Apple CarPlay, heating or cooling for seats, and an audio system with eight speakers. The Lexus LC is also well equipped when it comes to protecting its driver and passengers, with features such as warnings for frontal collisions, emergency automatic brakes, a camera for the rear view and monitoring of blind spots. Inside, it has a touch interface, Bluetooth support, soothing leather, an audio system from Pioneer, and the option of Android Auto or Apple Carplay.

The performance offered by the Lexus LC is truly formidable. It comes with a V8, 5-liter engine that is capable of producing a magnificent 467 horsepower with 389 pounds of torque. It can reach sixty miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds, topping out at 168 miles per hour.  The Porsche 911, in the Carrera GTS variant, provides 450 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to sixty in under four seconds with a turbocharged engine.

The Bottom Line

The Porsche 911 and Lexus LC are similar in price, performance, and perks, so choosing between them is no easy task. However, as impressive as the Lexus is, the rear seat is far too tight for a car with its asking price, many find ten speeds to be excessive, and compared to the Porsche it is overly heavy, so the 911 wins.
